Courtois Tourist’s Model • no. 8872 • 1875

Courtois was one of the premiere cornet makers of 19th century Europe, so it would follow that they would make an exceptional pocket cornet. This example apparently saw extensive use and required considerable restoration work (see before pictures, lower left).

It is high pitch and will play in either Bb or A.

In the US, these were distributed by Howard Foote. In England, they were distributed by S. Arthur Chappell.

Length (shank removed): 8”

Bell Diameter: 3.75”

Bore: .457
